I got the chance to run a workshop for the KU Leuven Kinderuniversiteit, and—let’s be honest—it was kind of a dream gig. The idea? To explore outer space using crayons, markers, and our imaginations.
The workshop was called Colouring Cosmos, and it started with a simple question: What if we could draw the universe together, one piece at a time? We began with planet Earth and slowly expanded outwards—galaxies, comets, strange animals on distant moons, you name it. Each child added something new to the cosmic map, building on what someone else had already drawn. It was playful, chaotic, and absolutely brilliant.
We talked about shapes, colours, and how even made-up planets need their own logic. I don’t speak perfect Dutch (yet!), but creativity has its own language—and it turns out, kids are fluent in it.
So no, we didn’t board a spaceship. But for an afternoon, we definitely travelled.
